There were over forty Filipino delegates, mostly members of the Philippine Glaucoma Society (PGS), at the 2016 Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Congress held in Chiang Mai from the 14th to the 16th of July. Notable among these delegates were the invited speakers. Dr. Norman Aquino gave a talk entitled Medical Treatment for Glaucoma as part of a course entitled Resident Course. Dr. Maria Imelda Veloso’s presentation was entitled Medical Non-Adherence: Is it a Big Problem? during the symposium on Medical Treatment and Adherence. Dr. John Mark De Leon was part of the course entitled Big Picture of Disc Hemorrhage, giving his talk on Disc Hemorrhage and Progression of Glaucoma.
The Asia Pacific Glaucoma Society (APGS) also held its annual general membership meeting at which Drs. Manuel Agulto and Norman Aquino were elected to the Board of the APGS. Dr, Ivan Goldberg, renowned Australian glaucoma specialist and honorary member of the PGS, was the recipient of the APGS Asia-Pacific Award.
